Keep your existing phone number

Many subscribers find it advantageous to keep their old number while still enjoying the great features and savings of babyTEL.
We can transfer your number to babyTEL if ...
- Your telephone line is not bundled with your DSL Internet connection.
- There are no pending orders for new services or features with your present telephone company for that number or account.
- babyTEL provides coverage in the local serving area of the Telephone Switch that hosts the number you wish to transfer.
How to unbundle your Telephone Line from your Digital Subscriber Line (DSL):
If your Internet connection depends on your telephone line, contact your telecom provider and request an unbundled DSL or 'dry/naked' loop, without canceling your existing telephone line. Your provider will assign a new number to your DSL connection leaving your existing number on a stand alone line. It can now be switched to babyTEL.
How to transfer your number to babyTEL.
All you have to do is fill out a Letter of Authorization and send it back to us (by fax or mail), along with a copy of your most recent phone bill containing the number, your name, address, etc. We'll do the rest. It's that easy.
How long will it take?
Transferring your number to babyTEL means a disconnection/cancellation of that number and account with your present telephone company and re-connection to the babyTEL network. This can take up to 30 business days following receipt of your complete and correctly filled Letter of Authorization and attachments. During that time we will assign you a temporary babyTEL number with all the features to which you have subscribed. When the transfer is complete, the temporary number will be deactivated.

Choice of babyBOX or Softphone
Use your phone or your PC
When you subscribe to babyTEL you can choose to use a regular telephone with a babyBOX phone adapter or to make and receive calls on your computer with a Softphone. You can use the familiar telephone or a solution that travels with you on your computer: babyTEL has the option for your needs. All of babyTEL’s many features are always available to you no matter which you choose.
babyBOX (hardware) option
Buy or rent a babyBOX and connect a regular telephone through it to your Cable/DSL modem or router. Now you can make and receive calls just like you did before – no computer needed. Take your babyBOX with you when you travel to make and receive calls wherever you have access to high-speed Internet.
Softphone (software) option
Our Softphone is an application that simulates a telephone and lets you make and receive calls from your computer. All you need is a PC or laptop, a microphone headset and a high-speed Internet connection. For added flexibility, use the Softphone with a WiFi-enabled laptop to make and receive calls anywhere you can pick up a signal.
